Apply for Grand Challenge resources by April 30th, 2018

Call for proposals for Grand Challenge projects to academic researchers (including higher education institutions and state research institutes) is open. The call is aimed at scientific research that requires computational resources exceeding CSC's standard project resources.

Grand Challenge (GC) projects involve cutting-edge research that requires considerable quotas for high-performance computation or data resources, or an extremely high level of service. The proposals will go through a technical and a scientific evaluation. Applications will be scientifically assessed by the CSC's Scientific Customer Panel, which consists of Finnish research team leaders from a variety of fields.

The deadline for the proposals is Monday, April 30th, 2018, at 16:00. The proposal form and instructions to apply can be found in https://research.csc.fi/proposal-form.

The form now includes a section for the data management plan.

The proposals will be evaluated in May–June, and the accepted GC projects can start July–August, 2018. The next call will be opened in autumn 2018.

Additional information on applying resources and evaluation criteria can be found in https://research.csc.fi/grand-challenge-proposals.
