Techila is a distributed computing middleware and management solution that can be used to massively reduce the time required to solve computational problems. The Techila system enables End-Users to push computational workloads to the Techila environment directly from their own computers, without needing to log in to remote nodes. Computational workloads are transferred to the Techila environment by using the Techila Software Development Kit (SDK), which contains library functions for several popular programming languages, such as R, Python and MATLAB.

The computational power in CSC's Techila environment is provided by Taito nodes.

Before you come to the course you will need to request your Techila user credentials. Please see the "Getting Started" section on the following page for more info on how to apply for access: https://research.csc.fi/-/techila

The training will consist of an introduction lecture to the Techila system, followed by hands-on exercises.

Note! This training is BYOL (Bring-your-own-laptop), so please feel free to bring your own laptop to the training. At the start of the hands-on exercises, the trainers will assist with configuring the Techila SDK to your laptop and help you test that the system is working with your R installation.
