Virtual Machines

Flexible computing environments for reproducible research

Design, test, and reproduce experiments in secure virtual environments

Service description

Virtual Machines (VMs) offer researchers a flexible and scalable way to conduct experiments and analyse data in isolated environments. Delivered through OpenStack, an industry-standard open-source cloud platform, the service provides compute resources for launching customised VMs. Researchers can configure environments with specific software stacks and data dependencies, enabling reproducibility of experiments and ensuring credibility in results. Features include VM templates tailored for different research domains, snapshot and restore functionality, GPU support for high-performance computing, secure data storage, and collaborative multi-user access. VMs scale with project requirements and are suitable for a wide range of scientific disciplines.
