Prerequisites for a CSC Project Manager

As a Project Manager (previously referred to as Principal Investigator) of a CSC Project you should meet the following prerequisites:

  • For research purposes:
    Project Manager should be an experienced researcher (e.g. post doc, team or group leader, a doctoral researcher employed by a research organization, research director or professor) involved in the project.
  • For educational purposes:
    Project Manager should be the responsible instructor of the course when it comes to course usage. Project Manager can also be a student when it comes to personal or small group usage related to studies (for example thesis).
  • For other purposes:
    Project Manager should be e.g. a project manager or a technical coordinator for a collaboration project.

Key responsibilities of a CSC Project Manager

  • Project Manager is responsible for adding and removing project members, or transferring Project Manager duties to another project member. Project Manager is also a member of the project.
  • Project Manager is responsible for monitoring that the resources granted for the Project are used responsibly, according to the Terms of Use.
  • Project Manager acts as the primary contact person in communications with CSC.

Project Manager's responsibilities are described in detail in the General Terms of Use for CSC's Services for Research and Education. Please note that some services (e.g. IDA research data storage service, The Language Bank of Finland) might include service specific responsibilities for the Principal Investigator/Project Manager in their terms of use.
