Getting into data-driven research and large-scale data analytics

Handling large data sets and models on a laptop can pose diverse challenges, such as running out of memory or the computation being too slow. Many such challenges can be addressed by running your analysis on CSC’s supercomputers. Our specialists can help you choose the right tools and computing environment for your research.

We support researchers from any field who need:

  • computational resources for data analysis and help with scaling up from your laptop to CSC’s supercomputers
  • pre-installed R and RStudio Server environments or Python libraries for data processing, analysis and visualization
  • assistance with running your analysis, ranging from using command-line tools to parallel and distributed computing

AI and machine learning

Training and using AI models, such as deep neural networks, can easily require a lot of processing power. For many tasks, GPU accelerators are a necessity. To meet this need, CSC’s supercomputers offer a large number of GPUs that can be used free-of-charge for open research. Popular machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX and TensorFlow are supported on our systems. We can also advise on how to set up more complex machine learning workflows on our supercomputers and CSC’s cloud infrastructure (Pouta, Rahti and Allas).
