Protection levels

The protection levels describe the functionalities available in a service for restricting access and controlling the use. The minimal level cannot be passed and the maximal level describes all available features for a service.

Protection levelDescription
Open access (green)The service supports openness. You can allow anyone to access, share and download. There is no login or other restrictions regarding content view and/or download.
Restricted access (blue)You can decide who can access or download the data and manage data sharing. The service supports different levels of access. Use of this service requires user registration.
Restricted and controlled access (orange)You can decide who can access or download the data, and manage data sharing and export from isolated environments. You can share data only to registered users. You can manage application and approval of access. Use of this service requires a medium or high level of assurance of identification and multi-factor authentication. Data access is logged and the data is encrypted.
Restricted and controlled use (red)Access to this service is managed either by the data controller, or by CSC acting on their behalf, and is provided only to registered users based on a data access permit. Use of this service requires medium or high level of assurance of identification and multi-factor authentication. Users cannot directly download and export content from this service. Data access is logged and the data is encrypted.
