cPouta provides quick and easy access to compute resource in cloud service
Service description
cPouta is a cloud service that can be used for example to run an analysis workflow, build your own research data service or just a do a quick test on your research data. cPouta enables efficient research data management utilising internet-accessible virtual machines, storage, virtual networks and GPUs. cPouta is based on an open source cloud software called OpenStack. The data is stored in Finland. If you have sensitive data, we guide you to use ePouta. Rahti is for easier application deployment. Allas service is for storing and sharing all types of data during your research project.
Technical information
cPouta has an easy-to-use web interface. You can also use OpenStackDK APIs with clients. Knowledge of Linux system maintenance is recommended. Note, that you are responsible for the security of the resources and infrastructure under your control and risk management. This includes, but it is not limited to: virtual machines, network configuration, and managing user accounts in your project.

How to obtain the service
To use the service the User must have a CSC user account and a CSC Project, which can be applied for research or education purposes via MyCSC. The Service access also needs to be activated in MyCSC. Instructions in Docs CSC. Commercial users: please contact CSC's Service desk.
Service is free of charge for use cases defined in the CSC free of charge policy. For other users, please contact CSC's Service Desk. User can start the usage with default quota by self-service and more resources can be granted by application. Usage is counted in billing units and some resources are available only upon request.
