Service description
ePouta is designed for processing sensitive data. It allows you to deploy virtual machines and storage resources directly to your organisation’s internal network, not to the internet. In ePouta security is taken to another level. ePouta is ideal for organizations that require a high performance and high security environment certified for sensitive data handling. You can use the ePouta web interface through a web browser or with a set of APIs, which allow programmatic management of resources. ePouta is based on the open-source cloud software called OpenStack. Your data in ePouta is stored in Finland. As a private cloud service, ePouta needs to be set up with your home organisation. ePouta provides a variety of resources including virtual machines, GPUs, storage, and networking with superior flexibility and user experience via Infrastructure-as-a-Service. You have full control over how you deploy and manage the resources.
Technical information
ePouta has an easy-to-use web interface. You can also use OpenStackDK APIs with clients. Knowledge of Linux system maintenance is recommended. To take ePouta into use, the first step is to set up a dedicated network connection between your organization and ePouta. Note, that you are responsible for the security of the resources and infrastructure under your control and risk management. This includes, but it is not limited to: virtual machines, network configuration, and managing user accounts in your project.

Access to service is managed by data controller or by CSC acting on their behalf, and provided only to registered users based on data access permit.

How to obtain the service
Using the service requires establishing a dedicated network connection. Please contact CSC Service desk for obtaining the ePouta service.
Service is free of charge for use cases defined in the CSC free of charge policy. For other users, please contact Service Desk. User can start the usage with default quota by self-service and more resources can be granted by application. Usage is counted in billing units and some resources are available only upon request.
