Puhti
Supercomputer
A supercomputer for a wide range of use cases from data analysis to medium scale computation
Service description
Puhti supercomputer is a gateway to high performance computing (HPC), catering to a wide range of use cases from artificial intelligence (AI) and interactive data analysis to small tomedium scale simulations. Puhti offers CPU partitions with in total 27 000 CPU cores, and nodes with a range of memory capacities and local storage to cater to wide range of use cases. The GPU partition with in total 320 GPUs, and is in particular geared for AI use cases. The Puhti service has a wide selection of preinstalled scientific software, and an easy to use web interface. If you need to access larger amounts of CPU capacity, or newer GPU architectures, you may consider the Mahti supercomputing service. If you need access to a larger amount of GPUs you may also consider Lumi. In addition to command line access, Puhti can also be accessed for interactive use via its web interface.
Technical information
Using the HPC environments requires elementary Linux skills, and a basic understanding of HPC environments. We recommend you are familiar with basics of Linux command line usage before starting to use Puhti, and have reviewed the material in Using CSC HPC Environment Efficiently online course.
