SD Apply

Sensitive Data (SD) Apply

Manage access rights to sensitive data

Service description

Sensitive Data (SD) Apply is a service for data controllers to manage data access permissions to their sensitive datasets stored at CSC in FEGA or SD Submit services. For researchers, SD Apply provides a fully electronic way to apply for access rights to controlled access data. Each dataset is associated with a Data Access Committee (DAC), which evaluates data access applications and can grant or deny data access for re-use. Authorized datasets are made available in SD Desktop – in the secure virtual computing environment part of CSC Sensitive Data Services for research. All access decisions in SD Apply are logged and a full audit trail of the application process is available. The data access authorization complies with the international standards, such as the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) Passport and DUO codes.

Technical information

The service has a graphical user interface and does not require any special skills.

How to obtain the service

SD Apply is used together with other CSC Sensitive Data Services. Data reuse in SD Desktop requires a CSC project and an approval from the data controller or their representative in SD Apply. Use of SD Apply to manage access to data in FEGA or SD Submit services requires a contract between the data controller and CSC. The use of SD Apply requires one of the following login methods, CSC, HAKA, Virtu or LSAAI account.
