The Language Bank of Finland (Kielipankki) is a service for researchers using language resources across digital humanities and social sciences. The Language Bank hosts a wide variety of text and speech corpora and tools for studying them. The corpora can be analyzed and processed with the Language Bank’s tools like Korp, most of them can be also downloaded. The Language Bank’s users are researchers, teachers and students who are interested in text, speech or video corpora containing natural language and tools for utilizing them. The majority are language researchers but the service is equally well suited to other digital humanities research.

The Language Bank has a wide variety of text and speech corpora and tools for studying them. The tools are available for installation, some of them are already installed on CSC’s Puhti supercomputer. The corpora can be analyzed and processed with the Language Bank’s tools or downloaded. Many corpora are publicly accessible, some require logging in. The rights to use restricted resources can be applied via a rights management service.

User content including personal data in the Service

This service is providing personal data as part of deposited datasets (e.g. Suomi24, Eduskunta audio recordings).

This service is not yet designed to process special categories of personal data.

A depositor must evaluate whether this Service is suitable for their purpose. Please pay attention to special categories of personal data.

When CSC processes personal data in CSC’s services on behalf of the controller, we always require a personal data processing agreement.  The user creates the description of processing activities in MyCSC customer portal. Data Processing Agreement.

The Service do not assert ownership or any intellectual property rights to users or customers organisations’ content in the services.

Client’s responsibilities

User must follow all the Terms of Use that applies using the Service.

Service producer’s responsibilities

The service producer ensures that the service is available to customers as described in the service description. 

The service producer is responsible for producing and developing the Service.
