Webinar: Researchers’ Journeys in Opening Cultural and Historical Data
This webinar is designed for researchers interested in practical examples of data publication. It also warmly welcomes data support professionals who want to learn from researchers’ real-world experiences.
Content:
Join us for a webinar dedicated to making cultural and historical data open. The session aims to demystify the process of data publishing and help participants better understand what it involves. By sharing concrete examples, we hope to lower the barriers to opening up research data.
In the webinar, Mila Oiva, docent, cultural historian specialized in Russian and Polish history (University of Turku) and Lotta Leiwo, doctoral researcher, Doctoral Programme in History and Cultural Heritage (University of Helsinki) will discuss their experiences with services maintained by the Language Bank of Finland and on topics such as:
Key Questions Explored:
- What motivated the researchers to make their data openly available?
- What steps did they take during the process?
- Has the data been reused, and what benefits—if any—has sharing brought to their own research group or to others
- What challenges did they encounter, and what lessons have they learned for the future?
The webinar will feature brief presentations by researchers, followed by open discussions.
No prior knowledge of data publishing is required—everyone is welcome to join and learn!
