Acceptable Use Policy

CSC Services

CSC services are provided by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and are available according to CSC policies.

Services that consume resources generally require that the project is led by a Principal Investigator (PI) affiliated with a Finnish research organisation (HEI, state RO or the National Archives of Finland). Some services, however, provide open access features, such as data discovery, data download, or visualisation.

Services requiring authentication are not yet federated with EOSC AAI due to technical reasons. Access is currently possible using a manually created CSC account where applicable. Federation with EOSC AAI is planned and will simplify participation in Finnish projects for researchers from abroad.

Finnish Resources

Finnish research organisations may onboard their services and datasets to EOSC Node Finland.

These resources are either:

• openly available, or
• governed by the policies of the service provider.

Applicable terms, policies, and licenses are linked in the service catalogue. Research data licenses are visible in the data catalogue.

EOSC Exchange Services

Services available through EOSC Exchange, including EOSC EU Node services, are subject to the policies of their respective providers.

Researchers with a Finnish Affiliation

Can access:

• CSC services according to CSC policies
• Finnish resources according to service provider policies
• EOSC Exchange services according to provider policies

EOSC Users

Can access:

• Openly available CSC services and functionalities
• Open Finnish resources
• EOSC Exchange services according to provider policies

Access to CSC’s resources generally requires participation in a project led by a PI affiliated with a Finnish research organisation (HEI, state RO or the National Archives of Finland).

Researchers Participating in a Project Led by a Finnish PI

Collaboration with Finnish PIs often enables project members to access CSC resources allocated to a joint project.

Such users can access:

• CSC services available to the project
• Finnish resources according to service provider policies
• EOSC Exchange services according to provider policies

Until EOSC AAI federation is available, authenticated access may require a CSC account.
