Renewed research.csc.fi website aims to clarify CSC’s service offering and improve end-user communication

In addition to a fresh new look, the website has been restructured based on feedback from our users and following best User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX) design practices. The content has also been streamlined in a way which we hope will make finding information about CSC’s services easier.

The renewed research.csc.fi website includes a tagging system that allows filtering services, use cases, blogs and training events based on the user’s role, needs, themes of interest and skill level. Better taking into account the various backgrounds, needs and skill levels of our users has indeed been one of the main drivers behind the website renewal project.

The main sections of the site are clearly titled to make it easier for the user to find the information they need. Read below what the sections contain.

How to start

The How to start page includes a step-by-step chart that outlines the process of becoming a user of CSC’s services. It is intended to be clear and concise, linking to more detailed content and instructions on other CSC websites such as My CSC and Docs CSC.

Services

The Services section forms the core of the new research.csc.fi website. Notably, it contains a renewed Service catalog that lists CSC’s various services for research, as well as Service breaks and topics related to Resource allocation. The section also presents CSC’s service offering based on service categories and target user groups.

Use cases

The Use cases aim to illustrate how various types of research projects could be realized by using one or multiple CSC services together. The user can filter the examples based on their skill level, needs and the themes they are interested in for a more targeted view. We intend to extend the available selection of use cases over time to provide a comprehensive overview of the possibilities CSC’s services offer for different fields of research.

Blogs

The Blogs section will contain topical posts related to CSC’s services. Our wish is use this section as a channel for sharing also scientific and technical blogs that should be of interest also to more advanced users. Also here, the content can be filtered based on the reader’s skill level, needs and topics they are interested in.

Training

The Training calendar lists all upcoming trainings offered by CSC. The calendar allows also browsing an archive of past trainings. The training calendar presented in research.csc.fi is “mirrored” from the training calendar on CSC’s main website, meaning that it does not matter which one you browse when looking for interesting courses to attend.

Terms & policies

Finally, the Terms & policies section contains CSC’s free-of-charge use policy, the general terms of use of CSC’s services for research, and other policies related to CSC’s services.
